Accent on Whole Foods: A whole grain, vegetable, fruit, and lean protein meal has decreased inflammation and regulated hormones.

Add Healthy Fats: Essential fatty acids from avocados, nuts, and fish regulate hormones.


2. Herbal Remedies

Adaptogens: Ashwagandha and maca root are the two herbs that have proven to be helpful with stress control and regulating hormones.

Chamomile Tea: Calming tea has calmed me into relaxation and eased menstrual cramps.


3. Mind Body Techniques

Yoga and Meditation: Not only did yoga relax the body, but also gave the mind much needed respite from the weight of endometriosis.

Breathing Exercises: Deep breathing can readily be used to cope with pain and achieve relaxation in bad conditions.


4. Exercise Regularly

Gentle Exercise: Low level exercise like walking and swimming has enhanced my mood and overall condition without irritating my symptoms.

Embracing the Process Hearing my body has been a necessity on my journey with endometriosis. I have mastered the skill of understanding my boundaries and being kind to myself. Taking time to enjoy little victories such as completing a workday or consuming a meal without pain is allowing me to stay more optimisticAccepting the illness has been an up and down emotional rollercoaster. There are days when I am defeated or even furious, but I find solace in knowing that it is acceptable to feel that way.

Awareness and Advocacy Throughout my journey, I've been more and more compelled to advocate and raise awareness for endometriosis. By sharing my own story, I've been empowered and able to share my connection with others who may be struggling silently. Awareness and advocacy not only altered my life, but they've also motivated other people to come forward and tell their stories as well.

By experience within my own social networks and community, I've been able to offer some contribution to the endometriosis discourse, to establish a sense of belongingness and support group.
